The Nuremberg - Erfurt high-speed line is 190 km long and is an important section of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean corridor from Finland to Sicily. It is part of a European transport network that links all regions of the EU.
In future, trains will cross national borders from northern to southern Europe without changing locomotives, stopping trains or changing train control systems.
