Research facilities
One of the world's largest research facilities is currently being built in Darmstadt: the FAIR particle accelerator. The area of approx. 150,000 m² houses an underground acceleration ring with a circumference of 1,100 m, experimental buildings, laboratories as well as operating and supply stations.
With this system, scientists hope to find answers to the question of how the universe came into being, for example.
